There’s no denying it. Tattoos are just plain cool.
And once you have one, it can be kind of addicting.
I got my first tattoo when I was 21. I have since gotten 2 more and plan to add a few, if not several, more during my lifetime.
I’m of the belief that no, I might not love all my tattoos when I’m 80 (as my family members lovingly warned me). But I don’t care. It’s about the experience. It’s about self-expression. Tattoos, for me, are a way to permanently “time stamp” a part of my life.
And besides, do you really think I’m going to care what my body looks like when I’m 80, anyways? I mean, I’m planning on really “granny-ing” it up with my wardrobe. My tattoos won’t even be visible under my cardigans and slippers as I knit in my rocking chair with my 17 cats on my lap.
I can remember what was going on in my life for every tattoo that I have. Seeing a physical representation of a certain season of my life is my way of honoring the process of moving through experiences and growing from them.
So I’ll continue to add art to my body as I learn from life.
I’m guilty of browsing tattoo ideas more often than I’d like to admit. Small tattoos are on my radar right now. If it’s small AND somewhat boho, you can bet I start scrounging up quarters from under the couch cushions.
I get that tattoos can sometimes be gaudy. I’m not all for that. I’m more into subtle, simple line designs. That’s why I’ve put together this collection of some of my favorite subtle small tattoos.
